BBC Sounds app to get round-the-clock stream of dance music | Music Ally

If music streaming services are getting more like radio, why can’t radio stations get more like the streaming services too? And they can / are, with the latest example being an offshoot from British broadcaster the BBC’s flagship youth station Radio 1.

It’s launching a 24-hour stream called Radio 1 Dance, which will live within the Beeb’s BBC Sounds app. However, this is very much a radio experience still: it’s gathering the BBC’s dance shows into what’s effectively a new online station, with daily and weekly slots for DJs including Pete Tong, Annie Mac, Danny Howard and guests like Diplo.

“Though the station’s world-leading influence in the dance music scene has spanned decades, we’re now able to stream all of our brilliant shows in one place on BBC Sounds,” said Radio 1 head Aled Haydn Jones.
