Cameo now helps fans buy a Zoom call with celebrities | Music Ally

Cameo is the app that lets people pay for celebrities to record personalised video messages for them (or friends and family as a gift). We wrote about it last June when the company raised a $50m funding round, noting that Snoop Dogg and Ice T were among the musicians available on Cameo. Now it has launched a new feature: the ability to also book live Zoom video calls with some of those celebrities.

Lance Bass out of N-Sync (£207), Drake Bell (£82), Pat Green (£57) and Granger Smith (£54) are the musicians taking part at present, alongside comedian Andrew Dice Clay (£248) and skateboard legend Tony Hawk (£166).

The calls will be live and last for 10 minutes, with up to four friends able to join in. We can see the appeal during the Covid-19 lockdown: even by late March, Cameo said it had seen a 160% spike in ‘talent signups’ for its service.

Among the musicians available for pre-recorded videos (not Zoom calls) are Chaka Khan (£498), Gloria Gaynor (£415), LeAnn Rimes (£415), Ziggy Marley (£407) and Insane Clown Posse (£291). Which, if you have £2,026 to spare, is an amazing corporate promotional video montage in the making…
