Spotify expands its ‘Group Session’ feature to work remotely | Music Ally

In May this year, Spotify launched a feature called ‘Group Session’ for people to listen to music together – with the caveat that they had to be in the same physical location.

Now the feature, which is still in beta, is expanding its horizons. “We’re taking Group Session one step further with brand-new functionality that allows Spotify Premium users around the world to tune into the same playlist or podcast simultaneously,” announced Spotify yesterday.

“Groups of two to five people can use this feature at once by sharing a ‘join’ link via messaging apps or social media with each other.”

Hosts and guests will be able to pause, play, skip and select tracks on the music queue, as well as add new tracks.
