Instagram is implementing new commerce eligibility requirements to help more businesses and creators sell on the platform. Here’s the rundown…
New Instagram Shopping Expansion for Creators
These new requirements expand access to Instagram Shopping to more types of businesses, including creators, so they can connect with shoppers and sell their merchandise on Instagram.
- Any eligible business or creator account with at least one eligible product can use shopping tags to drive people to their website to make a purchase.
- US businesses that are part of their checkout test on Instagram can drive people to purchase directly in the app.
“With this new policy, businesses must tag products on Instagram from a single website that they own and sell from, so that people have a consistent and trusted shopping experience. We’ll also update our sign-up flow to give clearer guidance to businesses and offer more transparency into the types of businesses that we are best suited to support, like creators who wish to grow their business on Instagram.” — Instagram Business Team
As an artist, the less your fans have to navigate to other sites, the better. Now that you can sell your merch right from Instagram, buying your favorite artist’s merch is easier than ever. What’s not to like?
