Move the Record event to raise money for independent stores | Music Ally

The Covid-19 pandemic has been a grim period for independent music venues and record stores alike, as they ponder not just when they’ll be able to reopen, but whether. It’s been heartening, at least, to see the success of several campaigns to support these businesses with artists and fans chipping in.

The latest initiative sounds good too: it’s called Move the Record, and will take place on 3-4 July with live broadcasts of DJ sets from independent stores in cities from London, Berlin and New York to Moscow, Antwerp and Oslo.

The streams will be accompanied by discounts and other promotions across the stores’ online catalogues, and competitions to win vinyl, merch and other prizes – with 100% of the proceeds to be split between the participating stores. MixCloud, Warner Music, Native Instruments, Ableton and DJ Mag are among the supporting partners.
