SoundCloud is launching its own channel on Twitch | Music Ally

SoundCloud is launching its own channel on Twitch with an array of original, live video programming. SoundCloud will be hosting different events each week to “bring the music community together to connect in real-time, inspire creativity, celebrate great music, and share the best resources for helping creators grow their careers”.

The first livestream will be this Wednesday (6 May) and will see the debut of ‘Studio Sessions With Soulection’, a biweekly 90-minute music show. The following day (Thursday 7 May) will see the launch of ‘Cloud Bar’, a three-hour weekly discussion series where industry executives and creators talk through industry trends, issues and tips.

Next week will see more new shows arrive – ‘Fresh Pressed’ (focusing on SoundCloud’s “hottest track” feature) and ‘Fast Track’ (to showcase rising new beat makers). This follows on from a flurry of SoundCloud activity in recent weeks, notably its partnership with Pharrell Williams and his I Am Other creative company to create a new compilation series for rising talent on the platform, as well as the launch of Repost by SoundCloud, its new marketing and distribution initiative.

SoundCloud also struck a deal with Twitch to fast-track musicians to affiliate status (which means they can start making money) on the latter platform.
