There’s a change at the top for Canadian collecting society Socan, as its CEO Eric Baptiste has resigned and stepped down with immediate effect. Why so abrupt? “With the end of the current CEO contract approaching, Eric thought it was time to move on and a mutual decision was reached with the Board to end his tenure now,” is how Socan put it in a press release, while stressing that the decision “is purely coincidental to the current Covid-19 crisis, and the board of directors has full faith in Socan’ executive management team”.
Socan’s current SVP of operation and reproduction rights Jennifer Brown has been appointed as interim CEO while the organisation gets to work on seeking a permanent replacement for Baptiste. She’s been an executive at Socan for nearly 10 years, and has worked with the CMO for more than 20.
