Berlin-based digital distributor Zebralution has acquired all shares in its technical service provider Encoding Management Service (EMS).
The sellers of the shares are the EMS founders Marc Radermacher as well as Irmin and Levin Wiechmann.
All three founders will remain with the company, with Radermacher continuing as Managing Director, Irmin Wiechmann as Chief Technology Officer not only of EMS, but of the entire Zebralution Group, and Levin Wiechmann as Creative Director.
Zebralution has been using EMS technology as a central platform for its business processes since 2005.
EMS will continue to operate as an independent company with its own team and customer base.
EMS was founded in 2010 as a spin-off of the software company de_zwei_drei. The EMS platform offers solutions for ingesting, encoding and delivering audio, video and e-book files to download shops, streaming services and other digital media services.
EMS customers include the distributors GoodToGo, Indigo, !K7, mbassador, TBA, Tonpool Digital, wordandsound and Zebralution.
EMS is also one of four Recommended Delivery Platforms for Spotify worldwide and a certified Encoding House for Apple Music.
