Developer Epic Games is teaming up with K-pop superstars BTS to premiere a “never-before-seen choreography version” of a video for BTS’ single Dynamite, inside Fortnite at Party Royale’s Main Stage.
The new BTS video will premiere on Friday, September 25 at 8:00 PM EDT.
With artists turning to online events this year because of the global pandemic, Epic Games’ Fortnite and BTS have each sparked a lot of industry chatter about the possibilities in the music-meets-virtual entertainment space.
In April, Travis Scott ‘Astronomical’ Fortnite event attracted over 27.7m viewers across five pre-recorded ‘sets’, while in June, Big Hit-signed BTS’ pay-per-view ‘BANG BANG CON The Live’ event attracted 756,600 concurrent viewers from 107 regions.
BTS’ virtual concert broke the records for the largest ever virtual concert audience, and the highest-paid online concert, banking close to $20m in ticket sales.
Fortnite’s Main Stage venue is part of the game’s no-combat social space Party Royale, “a new experimental and evolving space,” which was opened with a secret set by Diplo on May 1.
Fortnite is available as a free download on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, PC, and Android, but not IOs devices, after it was kicked off the App Store over a dispute about Apple’s in-app payment rules.
Starting September 23 at 8:00 PM EDT, Fortnite players can purchase The BTS Dynamite Pack, which features two “emotes” choreographed after BTS at a cost of 800 V-bucks.

Dynamite debuted at No.1 on Billboard Hot 100 and stayed there for two consecutive weeks. The official music video also became YouTube’s most viewed music video in its first 24 hours with 101.1 million views.
In addition, according to a press release, following the premiere, “players can enjoy Dynamite (Tropical Remix) listening party with karaoke graphics to sing and dance along”.
