Police in England will be able to fine organisers of "illegal raves" and other gatherings of more than 30 people, according to a

BBC

report.

People gathering in large groups without face coverings "where it is mandatory" may be charged £100 ($130), "doubling on each offence up to £3,200 [$4,200]," according to the report.

Organizers of such gatherings can be charged up to £10,000 ($13,100). English national police have its own department dedicated to unlicensed music events.

The UK government imposed the fines ahead of the August bank holiday weekend. The rest of the UK, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, are expected to set their own enforcement rules.
