Spotify artist fundraising tool averages 77 clicks per pick | Music Ally

Spotify announced an expansion of the partnerships for its ‘Artist Fundraising Pick’ feature yesterday, with new options for musicians in Latin America, Turkey and New Zealand. But in the blog post about it, there’s also a new stat that’s noteworthy.

Spotify had already said that more than 91,000 artists had taken advantage of the Artist Fundraising Pick feature since its launch in late April, but now it says those picks “have garnered nearly 7 million clicks and counting from fans”.

Don’t scrabble for a calculator, we’ve done that already: it’s an average of around 77 clicks per artist.

As for the partnerships: “In Latin America, we’ve partnered with Mercado Pago and PayU to offer more options for musicians in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, and Uruguay,” announced Spotify.

“Artists in Turkey can also use iyzico (a Pay U company), while those in New Zealand are able to link to crowdfunding organization Givealittle.” As with its original partners (Cash App, GoFundMe and PayPal·me) Spotify will not be taking a cut of any transactions.
