Out Today by The Orchard: ITZY, Cut Copy, and Marília Mendonça

From Brazil to Australia to South Korea, this week’s new releases feature artists from across the globe. Check out new releases from K-Pop group ITZY, Australian electronic/synth-pop band Cut Copy, and a collaboration from Sertanejo artists Marília Mendonça and Maiara & Maraisa.

ITZY – Not Shy (JYP Entertainment)

K-pop group ITZY is back again with their new EP, Not Shy. The K-pop quintet first made a splash in the scene in 2019 with their album ‘IT’z Different.’ The quintet’s new release Not Shy is an album about owning your confidence — especially when it comes to love. In an interview the group did with Hollywoodlife, ITZY member Yeji said “No matter how it ends, don’t be shy about your love. Express your feelings and emotions more honestly.” The music video for the title track features bold outfits and wild car rides, all set in the wild west. Listen to the Not Shy out now via JYP Entertainment and watch the new music video below!

Cut Copy – Freeze, Melt (Cutters Records)

Grammy-nominated Australian electronic/synth-pop band Cut Copy have released their sixth album, Freeze, Melt. The band’s new full length album features eight ambient and immersive songs. The lead single “Love Is All We Share” feels almost dystopian and ends with the repetitive phrase “only love” that eventually becomes droned out with clashing synthesizers and sounds. A song seemingly fitting for the times, frontperson Dan Whitford said “In light of recent events the song took on an eerie significance. Now, with our immediate future uncertain and people the world over self isolating, “love” more than ever, feels like one of the best things we can share.” Listen to Freeze, Melt, out now.

Marília Mendonça – Patroas, EP4 (Som Livre)

The Sertanejo queens are back with another amazing collaboration. Brazilian singer-songwriter Marília Mendonça alongside duo Maiara & Maraisa have come together once again for the fourth edition of their project, Patroas. The fourth EP, Patroas, EP4, follows three prior releases from the three artists beginning with their first release in June. In Patroas, EP4, Marília Mendonça and Maiara & Maraisa pay tribute to the great singers of the sertanejo with re-recordings of songs including “Nada Mudou” by Di Paullo and Paulino, “Deixa Eu Te Amar” by Edson & Hudson, and the classic by Leandro and Leonardo, “Não Aprendi Dizer Adeus.” Listen to Patroas, EP4 out now via Som Livre!
