Q Music Magazine To End Publication After 34 Years
Legendary music magazine Q will publish its last issue on July 28th after 34 years.
Distributed globally, the popular music magazine published monthly from the UK and was best known for including a free CD or book with each issue.
Launched at the start of the CD era, Q understood that many consumers wanted to revisit their favorite artists as much or perhaps more than they cared about discovering new music.
“We’ve been a lean operation for all of my tenure, employing a variety of ways to help keep our head above water in an extremely challenging print market,” wrote editor Ted Kessler. “Covid-19 wiped all that out. I must apologize profusely for my failure to keep Q afloat.”
It was founded in 1986 by the journalists and broadcasters Mark Ellen and David Hepworth, who were presenters of the BBC television music series Whistle Test.
