Spotify ‘Sound Up’ podcast program returns for third year | Music Ally

Spotify’s ‘Sound Up’ program aims to help people from underrepresented backgrounds take their first steps into the podcasting world.

60 people have so far gone through its program in the US, UK, Germany and Australia, with more than 20,000 having applied over the first two years of the scheme.

Now Spotify is launching the third year of Sound Up in the US, UK and Ireland, Germany, Australia, Sweden and Brazil. 20 people from each country will be chosen to take part in a four-week virtual training programme, with no previous podcasting experience required. In the US, UK and Ireland and Sweden, it’s aimed at women and non-binary people of colour. In Brazil, it’s aimed at young people of colour from the ‘Periferias’ (the outskirts of big cities), and in Germany it’s aimed at members of the LGBQTI community. For now, it’s just the US where applications are open, with the other countries to follow – full details are here.
