By Shannon Silver May 8, 2020

Another Friday is here which means another round of new music releases! This week The Orchard is giving you new releases from funk group Lettuce, storyteller and singer-songwriter Butch Walker, and rising electronic singer DOOLIE.

Lettuce – Resonate (Round Hill Records)

Since 2002, GRAMMY® Award-nominated six-piece group Lettuce has been combining classic funk with influences of hip-hop, rock, psychedelia, jazz, soul, and go-go. “Funk is a living and breathing thing with a ton of sub-genres,” says Adam Deitch, the group’s percussionist and arranger, “our goal is to add our own stamp to that by moving things around and bringing in jazz chords, psychedelic passages, big horns, and elements from the instrumental side of hip-hop.” Lettuce continues breaking all the rules and pushing musical boundaries in their sixth full-length album, Resonate (Round Hill Records.) For their new record, Lettuce teamed up with iconic producer and engineer Russ Elevado, who’s worked with the likes of D’Angelo, The Roots, and Erykah Badu. With Russ behind controls, the group produced a lively and vibrant eleven-track record that is sure to resonate with its listeners. Listen to Resonate now on all streaming platforms.

Butch Walker – American Love Story (Ruby Red Recordings)

American singer, songwriter, and producer Butch Walker has released his eleventh solo studio album, American Love Story (Ruby Red Recordings). A gifted storyteller, Walker’s newest release is a conceptual album that deals with the complicated “American dream” of a young man named Bo. While the album follows the story and lessons of a man whose head is full of doubt, hate, and “daddy issues,” the themes deal with many of today’s cultural and socio-political issues. Life is beautiful if you make it that way. Follow the journey of a young man who learns this lesson over his lifetime by listening to American Love Story, out now.
