Tracklib Raises $1.7M For Easy Music Sample Licencing | hypebot

image from www.jaybirdcom.comMusic sampling startup Tracklib has raised $1.7 million. The new funding for the Stockholm based company was led by the Sony Innovation Fund, WndrCo and Jörg Mohaupt, an early-stage investor who also has stakes in Discogs and Amuse.

Tracklib enables instant licencing of music samples. J.Cole’s latest double-platinum single Middle Child and DJ Khaled’s Holy Mountain both feature Tracklib samples.

"Licenses cost between $50 and $2500. "Depending on how much of the original song you sample, you share a different percentage of your total revenue. It doesn’t matter for how long you use the sample in your new song – you can loop five seconds for ten minutes and it’s still only five seconds of sample time. The total sample length is also cumulative – it doesn’t have to be a continuous piece."
