• Rights management company Dubset is announcing a partnership with DJ hardware company Pioneer with an integration in their DJM-REC iOS app, allowing DJ’s to clear their mixes for major streaming services directly through a Dubset upload function in the app. Here’s how it works: a mix is uploaded from the DJM-REC app to Dubset, who analyzes it for copyrights, then the DJ is able to legally distribute their mix via Dubset to music streaming services such as Apple Music and Spotify. When a user plays the DJ mix or remix on these streaming services, appropriate royalties are paid to labels and publishers who own the copyrights. You can learn more here.

• Instrumentalist, producer and songwriter Oran Thornton has signed an exclusive worldwide publishing deal with SNG Music LLP, one of Nashville’s leading publishing companies.  Thornton’s credits include projects for Miranda Lambert, David Nail, Little Big Town, Eric Church, Angaleena Presley, Eli Young Band, Stoney LaRue, Adam Hood, Brent Cobb and Logan Brill among others.

United Talent Agency has hired marketing veteran Sean Hill to serve as director of tour marketing for its music division in the UK.  Hill comes to UTA after a 5-year stint at ATM Artists, where he started in 2012 as head of digital. While at ATM, he led digital and social strategy for the agency’s client roster, including Swedish House Mafia, Axwell Ingrosso, and DJ Snake, among others. Hill also held a similar role at Lucid Group and after the company was acquired by Sony Music, some in-house work for RCA and its artists, including Beyonce, Kelly Clarkson, and Alicia Keys.
