Web Databases: Everything You Need To Know In 2019 | Evolvor Media

Learning as many computer skills as possible is something that everyone should strive for. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics found that in 2012, more than half of all jobs required some type of technical skill. This same study projects that by the year 2020, that number will reach 77%. As you can see, learning how to be technologically savvy is something that is becoming less and less optional, and more and more mandatory.

When deciding on which computer skill to learn first, I would recommend that you start with web databases. Understanding web databases is something that could get you a job very fast and is also something that almost every type of business uses. A web database’s primary function is to organize collected data and catalog it thoroughly within many parameters. In other words, a web database is an organizational tool that allows you to easily sort data that you obtain from the internet.

Even if you think you already know everything there is to know about web databases, the reality is that they are constantly changing, and it can sometimes be hard to keep up with all the changes. In this article, I will be discussing five big changes and trends that I believe will be surrounding the web database world in the year 2019.

Javascript Will Become Even More Popular

Javascript has been voted the most preferred programming language by Stack Overflow’s user-base for the sixth year in a row, and I don’t see that changing any time soon. Javascript is immensely popular in the web database world, and I believe it will continue to be extremely popular in 2019. If you know the history of Javascript, you know that it has been evolving ever since its inception in 1995. Due to the fact that it has been evolving every single year at a rapid rate, there is the only reason to believe that this trend will continue in 2019. Javascript’s capabilities are endless due to newly implemented frameworks such as Vue JS and React. Even though Javascript has been around for over 20 years, developers are just now realizing it’s full potential. There are not many things that you can’t do with Javascript, which is why I believe that in the year 2019, it’s already enormous popularity will only grow.

The Rise of Agile Database Development

One trend in the database world to note is that customer experience is starting to be delivered through software applications for all businesses regardless of the industry. So long are the days in which this is confined to one specific industry. Because of this reality, businesses are starting to figure out that they must act like software companies in order to keep customers happy, respond to customer feedback, and stay ahead of their competition. One of the ways they are trying to do this is by using Agile development methodologies. In layman’s terms, what agile databases do is allow companies to respond fast to customer comments, and rapidly implement any potential changes that need to be made. Because of the fact that customer experience is trending towards being delivered through software applications for all businesses regardless of industry, this only means that agile database development will rise in the year 2019 and beyond.

The Rise of JAMstack

The JAMstack model is becoming the go-to method for building websites and apps in the web database world. JAMstack stands for Javascript, API’s, and Markup. More and more people are starting to adapt to this model, and there are many reasons why that is. The main reason is that this model, when followed correctly, tends to deliver incredible performance in a cost-effective and easy to scale manner. Using this type of model when building websites and apps are trending up, and I believe that in 2019, will continue to rise and be even more prominent than what it was in 2018.

Big Data Will Become Obsolete

Companies are slowly but surely moving away from big data, and I expect this trend to continue in 2019. The reason why so many companies are moving away from big data is that they prefer to spread out their data amongst a multitude of different platforms, and not just one big one. As time passes, I predict that all companies will start to feel this way.

Companies Will Continue to Rely on Multi-Model Databases

Relying on multi-model databases is a trend that has been developing over the last several years, and I don’t see it slowing down anytime soon. Multi-model databases ensure flexibility, reliability and consistency, which is why so many companies use them and rely on them. In 2019, companies will continue to rely on these types of databases and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.

In summary, web databases are very important for the success of a business and are extremely important to be familiar with as a business owner. Technology is changing the world, and pretty soon nearly every single job is going to require some sort of technological skill. Understanding web databases is one of the best skills that you can learn in order to keep up the pace with society, and not fall behind.
