Anghami ventures into podcasts, inks audio content partnerships with leading publishers in MENA | Music Business Worldwide

Middle East and North Africa-focused music streaming service Anghami has ventured into podcasts, revealing ambitious plans “to scale” the format in the MENA region.

Lebanon-born Anghami says that it has entered into audio content partnerships with leading MENA-based publishers including ITP’s Time Out, Arabian Business, Harpars Bazzar, Eurosports Arabia, Jamalouki, Gulf News, Fatafeat, Sports360, and Communicate ME.

Over 250 shows have already been introduced to the platform’s Podcasts section from over 40 regional podcast creators, in addition to global podcasters ranging from Joe Rogan to Trevor Noah, Snoop Dogg and others.

According to Anghami, whose Co-Founder Elie Habib told MBW earlier this month that it currently has over 1m paying subscribers, it can offer podcasters a reach of nearly 70 million registered users.

The company also says that it has a community of over 2m artists and is currently handling 1 billion monthly streams on the platform.

“Our journey kicked off at the Middle East Podcast Forum last year, and together, I am confident that we will scale Podcasting in MENA.”

Rami Zeidan, Anghami

Anghami’s VP of Partnerships Rami Zeidan said: “At Anghami we are focused at presenting our users with a variety of entertaining content.

“A highly enriching audio experience with music at it is core. With a user centric approach, we will present a variety of audio formats to keep tailoring to personal tastes and interests, focusing on MENA users, and MENA creators.”

Added Zeidan: “The local Podcasting community is a creative one, they present relevant content to the MENA consumer in Arabic and English languages.

“Some Podcasts have been running for years such as Mstdfr, Kerning Cultures, Amaeya FM, Lovin Dubai, with many gaining momentum like Finyal Media, Basel Meets, Rana Nawas and many many more. In fact, we aim to start some music podcasts of our own.
