Here we go again: another member of Spotify’s senior management team is leaving the company.
This time it’s Chief Marketing Officer Seth Farbman (pictured), who took up the global position three-and-a-half years ago.
Farbman joins a slew of executives who have left Spotify over the past 18 months including Global Head of Creator Services Troy Carter, International Shows & Editorial boss George Ergatoudis, senior marketing and comms exec Angela Watts, Global Head of Artist & Label Marketing, Dave Rocco, former US comms chief Graham James and Global Head of Artist & Industry Partnerships Mark Williamson.
Spotify announced Farbman’s exit in an SEC filing yesterday (September 13), stating that the exec’s departure was ‘part of a broader effort to realign Spotify’s marketing organization’.
Farbman will depart Spotify at the end of the month and will ‘assist in the transition of his responsibilities until his departure’.
“We want to thank Seth for his creativity, dedication and hard work over the past three and a half years. He’s played a pivotal role in establishing our brand around the globe and building the remarkable team that will carry us into the future,” said Daniel Ek, Founder and CEO of Spotify.
Farbman commented: “I came to Spotify to build a world class marketing organization and establish the Spotify brand as the leader in music, culture and innovation.
“By all measures, we’ve achieved those goals, but we’ve also done something most companies only dream of doing – we’ve turned affinity for the Spotify experience into love for the brand. I have all the confidence in the creative, capable team in place.”
Other recent senior departures at Spotify have included the defection of Tuma Basa to YouTube Music, as well as the exit of UK/international Head of Artist & Label Services, Kevin Brown.
Seth Farbman joined Spotify in April 2015. He was previously global CMO at Gap Inc. for four years.Music Business Worldwide
