IDOL hires Sean Maxson as General Manager for North America | Music Business Worldwide


European based digital distributor IDOL has expanded its North America presence by hiring Sean Maxson as General Manager.

Maxson has previously held posts at [PIAS] as General Manager, Cooperative Music as General Manager and RED Distribution as VP, Label Management.

In addition, current staff member Thomas Sharp Maxwell, who has established the NYC based US IDOL office, has been promoted to Director, Label Development and A&R.

He will work closely with Maxson to grow the current US roster of IDOL’s distributed labels.

Founded in 2006, IDOL now has offices in New York (Williamsburg), Paris, London, Berlin and Johannesburg.

The firm works with 300 labels, including GODMODE (Yaeji, Shamir), Record Makers (Sebastien Tellier, Dita Von Teese), Axis Mundi (The Fluids), No Format! (Oumou Sangaré), Text records (Four Tet), Proper Music Group (Paul Carrack), Infiné (Carl Craig), Local Action (Dawn) and What Are Records (The Samples, 24-7 Spyz).

In addition, IDOL provides technology services to various digital content distributors, including Because Music, Kompakt, Ditto, Seed, Select and Virtual Label.
