Fraser T Smith inks worldwide publishing admin deal with Kobalt | Music Business Worldwide

Multi-talented UK producer, songwriter and musician, Fraser T. Smith, has signed a worldwide publishing deal with Kobalt.

The administration agreement covers both Smith’s future works and some recent catalogues, as well as the copyrights managed by his own publishing company, 70HZ Publishing.

Smith and his managers Sarah T. Smith and Neale Easterby will work closely with Kobalt’s worldwide creative team to find the best songwriting and networking opportunities around the world.

Smith has co-written, produced and mixed six UK No.1 singles and has contributed to multiple No.1 albums in the UK and US.

Records he has worked on in recent years include Adele’s “Set Fire to the Rain” and Stormzy’s UK No.1 album “Gang Signs & Prayer”.

He has also collaborated on recordings from the likes of Craig David, James Morrison, Taio Cruz, Dave and Kano.

“Fraser is without doubt one of the UK’s most successful and talented songwriters and producers.”

Sam Winwood, Kobalt

Kobalt SVP Creative Sam Winwood commented, “Fraser is without doubt one of the UK’s most successful and talented songwriters and producers. He is also a fantastic mentor and champion of young artists and musicians of all genres. We are very proud and excited to be working with such an exceptional talent.”

“I am excited to be part of such a tight knit, caring, proactive and dynamic publishing company,” said Smith.

Kobalt hired Smith’s friend Alison Donald as Head of Creative, UK earlier this year.

Donald now teams up with Kobalt’s LA-based Chief Creative Officer, Sas Metcalfe.

“Sas, Sam and the team (both in the UK and US) are so supportive and it’s an added bonus to be reunited with Alison Donald who played such an integral part in my career while at Chrysalis.

Kobalt has an old school, bespoke and independent feel yet with its cutting edge technology provides transparency, accuracy and assurance to its songwriters. I couldn’t be happier with my new family.”

Smith founded 70Hz three years ago with his wife and co-manager, Sarah.

The idea was to maintain a tight, boutique roster providing a bespoke service that could be a point of difference from other publishing companies.

Through Smith’s own experience as both a songwriter and producer, he provides mentorship and advice to the young roster for both composition and production, helping them with strategy and development.

70Hz’s current roster includes:
