British exec Guy Moot has been promoted at Sony/ATV Music Publishing to President, Worldwide Creative – a role which will extend his creative responsibilities to include the US market.
Moot’s new position is effective immediately and stands in addition to his existing role of U.K. Managing Director.
The announcement comes just over a year after Sony/ATV Chairman & CEO, Martin Bandier, signed an extension to remain global boss of the company.
Moot will continue to report to Bandier.
In his new position, Moot will be responsible for overseeing major creative deals in the U.K., Europe and North America – excluding Nashville, Miami and Latin America.

Guy Moot said: “Since living in New York in the ‘90s I’ve always maintained a close working relationship with the U.S. and am looking forward to spending even more time there.
“For me this new role perfectly mirrors the industry in 2017 when many songwriters are traveling the world to collaborate with writers in other markets and a hit song can now emerge from absolutely anywhere. It means the modern A&R executive has to stay on top of a variety of markets and connect people from different territories.”
Across his career, Guy Moot has signed songwriters and artists including Calvin Harris, Sia, Mark Ronson, Paul Epworth, Sean Paul, Gangstarr and the late Amy Winehouse.
At Sony/ATV, he and his team have worked with the likes of Ed Sheeran, Arcade Fire, Lana Del Rey, Clean Bandit, James Arthur and songwriting and production team Stargate as well as entering into a deal with the duo’s JV Stellar Songs whose roster includes Sam Smith, Emeli Sande and Charli XCX.
Having started his industry career in 1984 with A&R roles at both ATV Music and Chrysalis Records, Moot joined SBK Publishing in 1987 and moved with its co-founder Martin Bandier to EMI Music Publishing when it was acquired by EMI two years later.
Moot rose through the ranks at EMI, including being made Executive Vice President of A&R for the U.K. and Europe in 2003 before a promotion two years later to Managing Director of the U.K. business and President of European Creative where he was involved with the signing of acts including Avicii and Martin Solveig.
Following the 2012 acquisition of EMI Publishing by a consortium led by Sony/ATV, Moot was reunited with Sony/ATV’s Chairman and CEO Martin Bandier and appointed U.K. Managing Director as well as seeing his European Creative role expanded to cover the company.
Sony/ATV is currently on a run of having published or co-published the U.K. No. 1 single for each of the last 52 weeks.
This run includes hits by domestic signings such as Ed Sheeran, Clean Bandit and James Arthur alongside successes by global superstars including Drake, The Chainsmokers and Mike Posner.
While at Sony/ATV Moot has also been responsible for launching the company’s Neighboring Rights division whose roster now includes Lady Gaga, The Weeknd, Pharrell Williams, Mark Ronson, Nile Rodgers and Sting.
Sony/ATV U.S. Co-Presidents Danny Strick and Rick Krim will work alongside Guy Moot and continue to report into Sony/ATV Chairman and CEO Martin Bandier. Sony/ATV’s Nashville, U.S. Latin and Latin American divisions will continue to be overseen by Strick.Music Business Worldwide
