Spotify reveals first podcast title from exclusive partnership with Barack and Michelle Obama | Music Business Worldwide

President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama’s production company, Higher Ground, and Spotify have revealed the first title from their ongoing partnership, The Michelle Obama Podcast.

Higher Ground inked an exclusive podcast deal with Spotify last July.

Hosted by Michelle Obama, the new podcast will debut exclusively on Spotify on July 29, 2020. Like all podcasts on Spotify, it will be available to nearly 300 million Free and Premium users around the world.

The podcast will feature various special guests including Marian and Craig Robinson, Conan O’Brien, Valerie Jarrett, Michele Norris and Dr. Sharon Malone MD.

Salesforce and Procter & Gamble brands Dawn and Tide will serve as the first season’s presenting sponsors.

Higher Ground is a production company formed by President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama “dedicated to producing powerful stories to entertain, inform and inspire, and to lifting up new, diverse voices in the entertainment industry”.

The company also has a multi-year deal with Netflix to produce a wide range of scripted, unscripted and documentary-style series, as well as feature-length narrative and documentary films.

“My hope is that this series can be a place to explore meaningful topics together and sort through so many of the questions we’re all trying to answer in our own lives.”
