Just because Africa has only one country in the IFPI doesn't mean the larger music business is ignoring Africa. People in the music business follow Africa closely. Legal streaming services are beginning to thrive and replace -- or exist in tandem with -- piracy. Major labels are opening offices in Africa. Spotify is available in Egypt and Tunisia. Boomplay, to name just one African streaming service, is available in Kenya, Tanzania, Ghana and its home country, Nigeria. Also, African artists can have hits outside of Africa because the major streaming services are global. So, labels look to Africa for artists in ways not seen before streaming took off.
