Spotify’s Baila Reggaeton playlist now has 10m followers | Music Ally

Seven years after its launched, Spotify’s flagship Baila Reggaeton playlist has reached a notable milestone: 10 million followers.

Created to showcase the popular reggae/dancehall fusion genre from Latin America, it has played a key role (alongside YouTube) in breaking artists like Daddy Yankee and J Balvin globally.

Baila Reggaeton is the fifth biggest Spotify playlist in terms of followers, behind only Viva Latino! (10.6m followers); RapCaviar (12.9m); Global Top 50 (15.3m); and Today’s Top Hits (26.3m).

In other Latin American superstar news, Spotify is taking a bit of heat from fans of Bad Bunny, after his track ‘Safaera’ was removed from the service. Despite fan theories that the track’s explicit lyrics were the reason, news site Distractify appears to have pinned down the cause as an issue with (or indeed between) rightsholders of the track. Whatever the cause, it’s currently greyed out on Spotify (but can be played still on Apple Music, Amazon Music and YouTube).
