Nelson Can launch remixes project – and will share royalties | Music Ally

Ever since we saw them live at the by:Larm festival in 2018, we loved Danish band Nelson Can – and were sad to see them split earlier this year. However, they’ve got one more project on the go, and it’s an interesting one.

The band are inviting fellow musicians to remix tracks from their farewell album ‘So Long Desire’, and have made its stems available for that purpose.

Label Alcopop! Records will release the album on 19 June with all the remixers credited as featured artists, to ensure that it pops up on their streaming profiles. Here’s the interesting part: the fair sharing of royalties.

“The Remix Artists will receive 50% royalties for their remix and 50% of the master fee on potential syncs,” explained the band. “There will be speed-payouts in September and December and yearly thereafter.”

The idea being that the remixers might be newer / emerging artists, who can (in Nelson Can’s words) “use our platform; our music and our access to fans and followers to generate income for themselves in these trying times”.
