Today’s positive industry-related coronavirus stories (6 April) | Music Ally

There’s been so much activity around support and relief efforts from the music industry – both for musicians and people working in the business, and for the wider work outside it – that it’s not surprising there was a mini-lull since our last update. Good news to report on today include Pink’s announcement that she’s donating $500k to the Temple University Hospital Emergency Fund in Philadelphia, and another $500k to the City of Los Angeles Mayor’s Emergency Covid-19 Crisis Fund. Pink and her three year-old son both tested positive for the virus recently, but are now recovering.

Elsewhere, DJ Khaled and Nicole Tuck have announced that their We The Best Foundation has partnered with charity Direct Relief to support the efforts to provide healthcare workers in New York and Miami with masks, gloves and PPE [personal protective equipment] kits.

Apple CEO Tim Cook announced that his company has now sourced more than 20m masks through its supply chain, while also putting some of its teams on the task of designing, producing and shipping face shields for healthcare workers.

Finally, classical-music streaming service Primephonic says it will donate £8.5k to Help Musicians UK’s Coronavirus Financial Hardship Fund and New Music USA’s New Music Solidarity Fund, and up to £85k in total via a scheme involving donating £8.50 for every new user that signs up to two months of its service using the voucher code ‘KEEPPLAYING’.
