Stefan Max promoted to Senior Vice President of A&R for Warner Records | Music Business Worldwide

Stefan Max has been promoted to Senior Vice President of A&R for Warner Records, it was announced today by the label’s Co-Chairman & CEO Aaron Bay-Schuck.

Max will be based at the company’s new downtown Los Angeles headquarters.

Max moved from New York to LA in February 2019 to join Warner Records during the rebrand of the iconic record label under the new leadership of Bay-Schuck and Tom Corson, Co-Chairman & COO.

His first signing to the label is alternative artist, Sub Urban, whose lead single, Cradles, is not only a monster TikTok viral hit but also a certified radio smash.

Cradles is currently No. 3 on Billboard’s Alternative Songs chart and has been certified gold in the US and Canada.

The ten-year WMG veteran got his start in 2010 as Director of A&R for Warner’s Roadrunner Records, where he signed indie rockers Young the Giant.

He made his way to Atlantic Records in 2012 as Vice President of A&R, signing acts such as Icona Pop and Absofacto, as well as Vance Joy, whom he still produces and works with today.

“Stefan’s track record and tenacity in signing great artists, and his skill in unlocking that talent in the studio, separates him from the pack.”
