Spotify’s dance playlist Mint spawns its own ‘singles’ | Music Ally

We’re well used now to ‘Spotify Singles’, the streaming service’s series of original live recordings from artists, where they re-record one of their own songs plus a cover version – with their label retaining all the rights. Well, now one of Spotify’s big playlists is spawning its own line of similar releases.

The playlist is dance-focused Mint, and the series is called ‘Mint Singles’. The first in the series features R3hab and Gattüso for a tops-off-lads hands-in-the-air cover of, erm, Radiohead’s ‘Creep’.

“Opening with angelic vocals over a barely-there bassline, we soon discover that this track packs a punch of attitude when the breakdown dives into a bouncy, groovy soundscape intermixed with upbeat melodies,” is how Spotify described the track in its announcement. We’ll bring you Thom Yorke’s reaction as soon as we’ve found someone on the team brave enough to ring him up and ask.tw
