Midem 2020 conference cancelled, replaced by ‘digital edition’ | Music Ally

midem 2019Conference organiser Reed Midem has confirmed that its Midem event, which was due to take place on 2-5 June, has been cancelled – in its physical form, at least. The next Midem will be in June 2021.

“The situation related to the coronavirus is changing daily, as are government announcements and restrictions… Given the uncertainty surrounding the virus and companies’ concerns for the safety of their people, it is not possible to hold Midem in June in Cannes,” said Midem director Alexandre Deniot in a statement.

There will be a replacement for this year’s event however: the ‘Midem Digital Edition’ online, with live-streamed keynotes and talks, as well as online networking. A full programme for that will be announced in the coming weeks. Based on yesterday’s entirely-online AIM Sync, which seemed to go swimmingly, digital conferences can work well, so we’ll be interested to see what Midem comes up with.
