Bytedance plans to increase headcount to 100k people this year | Music Ally

There’s a lot more to Bytedance than TikTok (Douyin in China) and its new Resso music-streaming service. From news app Toutiao to its reported expansion into games and office software, there’s a lot going on. Cue a huge recruitment splurge for the company, which already has 60,000 employees.

According to Reuters, it’s planning to increase that to 100,000 by the end of 2020. Bytedance’s founder and CEO Zhang Yiming will apparently be taking personal charge of its global expansion plans too, having promoted execs Zhang Lidong and Kelly Zhang Nan to have more responsibility for Bytedance’s business in China.

“Over the next three years, I plan to visit all regions where we have offices, and learn both about local culture and also about the company’s operations in these locations,” said Zhang Yiming in a statement. “The rapid growth ByteDance has achieved over the past eight years is a testament to the dedication of all our employees, a global team we expect to number 100,000 by the end of the year.”
