Nick Shymansky and Nick Huggett launch management company, say sources | Music Business Worldwide

Two of the UK’s best known A&R and management figures – Nick Shymansky and Nick Huggett – have launched a new artist management company based in London, MBW understands.

MBW hears that the venture is called Day One Music.

It is believed that one of the artists they are managing is fast-emerging British talent, Lola Young.

Young is currently featured on Spotify’s New Music Friday UK playlist with the track, Blind Love, taken from her album Intro, released this year.

Shymansky was the long time manager of Amy Winehouse during her rise to superstardom and heavily featured in the Oscar-winning documentary, Amy.

He was also previously a senior A&R manager at Island Records.

Huggett is best known as the exec who signed Adele to XL Recordings in September 2006.

He most recently joined Because Music following a role at Parlophone, but that now appears to have ended as he and Shymansky launch their own venture.

In addition to signing Adele, the executive is best-known in industry circles for signing M.I.A and Dizzee Rascal at XL Recordings, where he arrived in 2002 following a stint working at Mo’Wax.

He moved to Columbia Records UK in 2007 as Head of A&R, before joining Island in 2009 where he signed the likes of Rizzle Kicks and Alex Clare.
