Jessica Carsen hired by Jason Iley as SVP of Communications, Sony Music UK | Music Business Worldwide

Sony Music UK has announced the appointment of Jessica Carsen to the position of Senior Vice President, Communications. She will report directly to Jason Iley, Chairman and CEO, Sony Music UK and Ireland.

Carsen joins the company from News UK, where she was Director of Communications for The Times and The Sunday Times and led on communications strategy for the past decade.

At The Times, Carsen spearheaded major brand building franchises, including the successful Times CEO Summit; an annual event that convenes global leaders, FTSE CEOs, government ministers, entrepreneurs and journalists, and which is now in its tenth year. She oversaw VIP events and communications for Times projects including the switch to a subscription model, new digital product launches and newspapers move from Wapping to London Bridge in 2014.

Jessica will run the Sony Music UK team responsible for all aspects of external and internal communication, stakeholder engagement and corporate social responsibility; and will work closely with each of the Sony Music corporate divisions and labels.

Prior to her work at The Times, Jessica worked in both editorial and commercial roles in media and financial services, including as a reporter at Time Magazine and as an investment writer for a global macro hedge fund.

She started her career in business development at the Financial Times and worked in the BBC bureaux in New York and Washington DC during the 2004 US presidential campaign.
