After topping the UK Official Singles Chart for a nearly unprecedented seven weeks, Lewis Capaldi’s now truly global smash, Someone You Loved,  has officially hit No.1 in the US on the Billboard Hot 100.

This is the first No.1 single from a debut UK artist since February 2016, having reached the summit in its 24th consecutive week on the chart.

In addition to scoring No.1 on the Hot 100., Someone You Loved is No.1 on the US Top 40 Radio chart for the second week running.

It also spent two weeks at No.1 on the Hot AC Radio chart, No.1 on the US Shazam chart for the eighth consecutive week and hit Top 5 on the US Spotify chart.

Worldwide streams of the track are approaching two billion.

Already certified Platinum by the RIAA, Someone You Loved has now earned 2.5 million equivalent song units in the US.

The single is also certified Platinum or greater in a total of 18 countries.

The single is taken off Capaldi’s album Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent, which is signed to Virgin EMI in the UK and Capitol Music Group in the US, with publishing handled by BMG.

Capaldi’s debut album is the fastest selling UK debut of 2019 with 90,000 albums sold in the first week.

To date, it has sold over 1.5 million adjusted albums worldwide and combined global streams now exceed 2.6bn

Earlier this month, Capaldi released the four-track Bruises EP, which includes the album version of Bruises plus a Live Orchestral Version, a guitar acoustic and the Steve Void Remix.

After Capaldi self-released “Bruises” two years ago, he became the fastest unsigned artist to reach 25 million plays on Spotify.
