AWAL hires Daniel Stuart as Senior Vice President of US Business Affairs | Music Business Worldwide

Kobalt’s recorded music company AWAL has hired Daniel Stuart as Senior Vice President, business affairs, United States.

Based in AWAL’s Los Angeles office, Stuart will oversee AWAL’s US-based legal affairs activities, which include the negotiation of AWAL’s agreements with its clients, distributors and vendors, and the development and implementation of new business affairs initiatives and strategies.

For more than 20 years, Stuart has worked for firms such as King, Holmes, Paterno & Soriano; Manatt, and Phelps & Phillips.

Stuart penned the first draft of California’s current Coogan Law during his first years as a lawyer.

He is also a published author and, prior to practicing law, Daniel spent several years as a music broadcast journalist, most notably as the editor of the national urban radio program RadioScope, the creator of The Hip-Hop Countdown & Report, and radio documentary Marvin Gaye: We Miss You.
