Tunecore Distribution Payments To Artists Up 21%, Stream And Downloads Rise 83% | hypebot

Tunecore logo newTuneCore artists earned $83 million in the first quarter of 2019, a 21% increase over the same period last year. Total streams and downloads of music by TuneCore’s 250,000 worldwide artists hit 199.3 billion in the past year, a 83% increase over 2017.

This latest tally brings Tunecore's total distributed revenue to DIY artists to $1.5 billion. Last year, distributed income reached $308 million, a 28% year-over-year increase.

Publishing administration royalties collected for TuneCore artists grew 42% in 2018. As well, YouTube Monetization delivered significant grew 48% over 2017

Tunecore offers flat fee distribution to over 150 digital stores and streaming services worldwide. 

In 2018, the fastest-growing genres worldwide were:

  1. Heavy metal – 154% increase
  2. J-Pop – 133% increase
  3. R&B/Soul – 68% increase
  4. K-Pop – 58% increase
  5. World music – 57% increase
  6. Instrumental – 42% increase

In 2018, streaming growth varied worldwide:

  1. Africa – 146% growth
  2. Asia – 52% growth
  3. Oceania – 38% growth
  4. Europe – 35% growth
  5. South America – 32% growth
  6. North America – 31% growth

Countries with notable streaming growth in 2018 included:

  • Morocco – 243% increase
  • South Africa – 125% increase
  • Italy – 108% increase
  • India – 89% increase
  • Turkey – 81% increase
  • Czech Republic – 72% increase
