Guest post from Sunny Stuart Winter
In the latest episode of Such Great Heights (don't miss out - subscribe on YouTube by clicking here), I sit down with Marcus Gooda, Employed To Serve (Holy Roar Records) bassist & front man for The Yacht Club.
We discuss how Marcus became a session guitarist, how he finds opportunities, the importance of networking and advice for anyone looking to get into session work.
I've always been curious about session work and how a talented musician might get a chance working with artists, especially those artists who have already made a name for themselves and perhaps need support after losing a band member.
Also in this video, we have a really personal conversation about mental health and dealing with grief, something that both Marcus and I have been affected by. It's so important to talk openly about your mental health, remove the stigma and support one another by active listening. We discuss our experiences, as well as advice for anyone going through similar.
There will be upcoming video content on my YouTube channel discussing mental health, grief and my own experiences with both. We all have mental health, we will all be affected by it at one point or another in life, so it's so vital to learn to be open about how you're feeling with those around you.
I would love to hear what you think about the latest episode, the topics that Marcus and I discuss, as well as any topics you would love covering in the near future. As long as I can organise my time, I do plan on creating more content in the coming months so please subscribe to show your support.
For now, click play on the video below and watch my conversation with Marcus Gooda for Such Great Heights,
Until next time...
