Fierce Panda signs Desperate Journalist for publishing as part of Bucks Music Group JV | Music Business Worldwide


UK-based indie label Fierce Panda Records has signed Desperate Journalist to its Fierce Panda Songs publishing arm under a joint venture agreement with Bucks Music Group.

The JV between Bucks and Fierce Panda means that Bucks provides upfront investment, creative sync services and back end administration for Fierce Panda Songs as well as ongoing support.

Desperate Journalist released their third album, In Search Of The Miraculous, in February this year.

The new LP follows the band’s eponymous debut album, released in 2014, and 2017’s Grow Up.

The band have received strong support from a number of well-known music publications including Line Of Best Fit, The Quietus, Q Magazine, The Skinny and Uncut. They sold out The Garage in London in April, and have gigs scheduled across the UK and Germany throughout the rest of the year.

Currently celebrating its 25th anniversary, Fierce Panda Records has released pivotal songs by the likes of Placebo, Coldplay, Idlewild, Keane, Embrace and The Maccabees over the course of over 400 singles and 124 albums since 1994.

UK-based Bucks Music Group has a rich musical heritage, having been responsible for launching and developing the careers of music legends including David Bowie, T-Rex, The Move, Black Sabbath and Procol Harum. Its active A&R department continues to discover and develop new songwriting talent.

Bucks’ catalog includes works written by David Bowie, The Rolling Stones, Black Sabbath, Procul Harum, DJ Fresh, Run The Jewels, Brian Eno, James Blunt, Professor Green, Rudimental, Beyonce, Joe Strummer, CAN, Pete Doherty, Roni Size & Reprazent, David Arnold, Honeyblood, One Bit, The Heavytrackerz , Dusky Grey, Sick Joy, Life, Brooke Bentham and more.
