Creativity Award 2019 Breakthrough Experience Award: TD Ameritrade, The First Ad | Advertising Age

This award, sponsored by WP Engine, honors a campaign that leveraged design and technology to deepen engagement with consumers in new and exciting ways. This year’s winner went to TD Ameritrade’s “The First Ad in the Blockchain," created out of Havas New York.

The campaign aimed to communicate the brand’s ongoing commitment to innovation. By leveraging a few strategically placed Bitcoin transactions and a single tweet, the agency created the first brand message—a permanent ad—that lived on the blockchain. The ad reached  a discrete, hard-to-reach audience of Bitcoin traders, in the process turning them into brand evangelists. All at an investment of just $24.
