Sophie Jian appointed Senior Vice President, Finance and Operations, Warner Music Asia | Music Business Worldwide


Sophie Jian has been hired as the new Senior Vice President, Finance and Operations for Warner Music Asia.

Jian will be based in Warner Music’s Hong Kong office and report to Simon Robson, President, Warner Music Asia.

She replaces Gary Smerdon, who is moving internally to work in a new international role for Warner Music Group.

Jian joins the company after stints at a number of major global firms including Bloomberg Media Group, General Electric and Standard Chartered Banking Group.

Her most recent position prior to joining Warner Music was with financial technology start-up Tallysticks, where she was Commercial Advisor and Head of International Strategy.

She will join the region’s five-strong senior management team alongside Calvin Wong, President, SE Asia, Hong Kong and Korea, and EVP Marketing, Warner Music Asia; Carmus Chan, Human Resources Director, Warner Music Asia; Cora Lam, SVP, Legal and Business Affairs, Greater China and South East Asia; and Robson.
