Instrumental provides Major support for A&R Awards | Music Business Worldwide

A&R is at the heart of everything fast-growing digital scouting firm Instrumental does.

So it is perhaps no surprise – but definitely a great honour – that it has stepped up to sponsor the Major Label category at this year’s A&R Awards.

The UK-focused ceremony, now in its third year, takes place at a new venue, the rather lovely DeVere Grand Connaught Rooms in London’s Covent Garden, on the evening of Tuesday, November 6.

Conrad Withey, CEO of Instrumental, said: “We are so proud that Instrumental’s scouting tech is being deployed by labels from all three majors and are constantly impressed by the quality of A&R executives within those teams.

“While we focus on creating world-class tools to power artist discovery, it is their hard work, creativity and experience that is critical in turning that early stage talent into global stars.

“We are therefore thrilled to be sponsoring the MBW A&R Awards in 2018, specifically to recognise significant achievement from a Major Label team over the last 12 months.”

Instrumental joins Abbey Road, the event’s headline sponsor since Year One, in supporting the 2018 A&R Awards, with more partners to be announced shortly.

Other categories include the Artist Loyalty Award (previous winners Colin Lester/Craig David and Bill Curbishley/The Who); the hugely prestigious A&R Icon Award (previous winners Muff Winwood and Korda Marshall) and the silence-followed-by-standing-ovation-guaranteed Sir George Martin Award (previous winners Mike Smith and Caroline Elleray).

There are also individual categories recognising excellence across all disciplines and all genres – details here. The finalists (selected by a hand-picked panel of experts) will be announced shortly.

As ever, the event will sell out (and quite soon), so to make sure you don’t miss out, click here to buy tables and tickets.
