A&R Awards in association with Abbey Road studios announce 2018’s official charity partner | Music Business Worldwide


The A&R Awards in Association with Abbey Road Studios are pleased to announce that Music Support has been named as the event’s official charity partner for 2018.

Music Support provides help and support for anyone in the music industry suffering from addiction and/or mental health issues.

Founded and run by individuals from the music industry with personal experience of these issues Music Support, whose patron is Robbie Williams,  has evolved into a 24/7 helpline offering peer support, ‘Safe Tents’ at UK Festivals and a psychiatric assessment and signposting service, via accredited and vetted professionals in the fields of addiction and mental health. Music Support also offers individual crisis management and large-scale trauma support.

Together with the UK’s Music Managers Forum (MMF), Music Support recently published ‘The Music Manager’s Guide to Mental Health’ and organises workshops, training and ongoing advice for companies and individuals.

Now in its third year, the A&R Awards in association with Abbey Road Studios will take place at a new venue, The De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in Covent Garden, London on the evening of Tuesday November 6.

Now in its third year the A&R Awards, in Association with Abbey Road,  will take place at a new venue, The De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in Covent Garden, London on the evening of Tuesday, November 6.

Celebrating both individual and team excellence in the field of UK artist discovery and development, the ceremony will recognize the finest achievements in multiple genres, while promising three extra special moments:

  • The Sir George Martin Award. Named in honour of the legendary Beatles producer, this award recognises an individual with a proven track record of truly artist-friendly A&R – combined with commercial success – who continues to sign contemporary hitmakers
  • The Artist Loyalty Award, which celebrates a longstanding relationship between an industry exec and a standout artist who have stood by each other through thick and thin over the years;
  • The A&R Icon Award, presented to an individual whose actions have truly changed the game for the creative side of the UK music business, and whose influence continues to reverberate today.

Individual ‘A&R Of The Year’ awards will be handed out in separate genre categories including Electronic/Dance, Hip-hop/Grime, Pop/R&B, Adult Contemporary and Rock/Alternative.

Elsewhere, there will be Songwriter and Producer of the Year gongs – voted for by a panel of the most influential A&R figures in the global industry – in addition to an A&R Administrator award.Music Business Worldwide
