LA pop rockers Haim say that they fired their booking agent after learning that they were paid 10 times less than a similar male artist performing at the same music festival. The sisters did not name the artist or the festival.
"It's scary out there and [messed] up not even to be paid half the same amount. But to be paid a tenth of that amount of money? It was insane," Alana Haim told Grazia magazine.
"We had been told that our fee was very low because you played at the festival in the hope you'd get played on the radio," sister Danielle added. "We didn't think twice about it, but we later found out that someone was getting paid 10 times more than us. And because of that we fired our agent."
"We'll go to alternative radio stations in the States and there won't even be a girls' restroom," sister Este said at the Brit Awards."That's a clear indication that something needs to change."
