Onstage last week at the Recode's Code Media, producer and songwriter Oak Felder demonstrated how the Demi Lovato hit "Sorry Not Sorry" went from an idea to a viral sensation. The hit producer recreated the technical process beginning with a blank canvas in music production app Logic Pro X.
“The people in the room are looking at you for the initial spark of inspiration,” said Felder. “You are the catalyst, you are starting everything up.”
Felder says that originally the full process took under an hour. Then social media took the track viral with early help from Spotify, and data from the streamer informed the marketing that took the song to #1. Here's the final track.
