Reservoir signs multi-Grammy winner James Fauntleroy to global publishing deal | Music Business Worldwide

Reservoir has signed James Fauntleroy to a worldwide publishing deal.

Fauntleroy is the co-writer of Bruno Mars’ 6x Platinum and #1 single “That’s What I Like”, which won Song of the Year and Best R&B Song at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday night.

Mars’ 24K Magic took home the Grammy for Album of the Year. Fauntleroy co-wrote eight of the album’s nine tracks making him the first songwriter to receive the AOTY award following the Recording Academy’s rule change.

Fauntleroy is also currently enjoying chart success with Mars’ latest single “Finesse” featuring Cardi B, which soared to #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was performed by the pair on the Grammy’s telecast.

“I’m so excited to begin the next phase in my mission to inspire and educate with Reservoir, whose motto is investing in entertainment, but is truly investing back into the world through their globally-impacting roster that I’m so honored to join,” says Fauntleroy.

“I’m really looking forward to being a part of this family business and I appreciate their support immensely at what feels like the new beginning of my career!”

Fauntleroy most recently co-wrote two songs on Justin Timberlake’s forthcoming Man of the Woods album, including lead single “Filthy”.

“Working with James again is a dream come true.”

In 2014, he won his first Grammy Award for Best R&B Song for Timberlake’s “Pusher Love Girl.” Fauntleroy co-wrote every song on Timberlake’s The 20/20 Experience album, which went to #1 in a dozen countries worldwide and is certified 2x Platinum in the US.

He also contributed to the majority of the cuts on the follow up, The 20/20 Experience — 2 of 2.

In addition to Timberlake and Mars, Fauntleroy’s discography of works includes collaborations with an extensive list of global superstars including Jay-Z, BeyoncĂ©, Rihanna, Mariah Carey, Kelly Clarkson, Frank Ocean, John Legend, Kendrick Lamar, NAS, Common, Snoop Dogg, and SZA, among many others.

“There’s a reason why all the biggest names in music want to collaborate with James. His musical accomplishments are incredibly impressive, but so is he as a human being—not only giving back to the world with his music, but also giving back to the community. Working with James again is a dream come true,” said Reservoir EVP of Creative Donna Caseine, who signed Fauntleroy to the roster and will oversee his day-to-day A&R.

Based in LA, Fauntleroy was handpicked by Spotify as one of only 13 Secret Genius Ambassadors for their inaugural global initiative honoring the contributions that songwriters and producers make to the music industry in November last year.

Spotify released a recorded interview with Fauntleroy as part of the celebrations, in which he discussed his songwriting process.

“A great song,” he says, “is one that addresses the physical—that’s the music, the melody, all the things you hear that make you feel a certain way and then the spiritual part is the words, and if that sounds right and you get both of those things—then people are going to like it. That’s the secret.”

New York-based Reservoir’s roster of active writers and producers includes Ina Wroldsen, Jamie Hartman, Lauren Christy, Ali Tamposi, Dave Bassett, Mike Campbell, Nate “Danja” Hills, and Statik Selektah, plus popular performing artists 2 Chainz, Joey Bada$$, WatchTheDuck, and Migos’ Offset and Takeoff.Music Business Worldwide
