If you own a music venue, such as a club, you have a lot of technical maintenance issues that you need to consider to keep your place attractive to potential music goers. Any place that is crowded has to be kept both comfortable and safe. To do this, you as the music venue owner should have a list of things that you should be maintaining. Here are four.
Fire Exits
Not only is it the law, but your guests and staff need quick and easy access to exits in case there is an emergency that requires them to leave the building. Don’t just do the minimal. Make sure that all of your exits are clearly marked and easily accessible. It’s worth the investment to update your signs if they are becoming worn. You should also decorate your venue so that the colors of the signs don’t blend with the colors and decorations of the inside of the building.
Air Conditioning and Heating
Your air conditioning system is especially important on packed nights. The temperature of your venue is important both to the comfort and health of your music goers, bands, and staff. Performing regular HVAC repair will help keep music goers interested in coming back, weekend after weekend. It will also prevent you, as the music venue owner, from having guests who become ill due to heat. If your HVAC system has issues in the middle of a particularly crowded night, you might have to shut down until the issue is resolved, resulting in hundreds or even thousands of dollars in lost revenue. It’s best to maintain before there is an issue.
Bathrooms
Restrooms are one area that people especially like to see clean and well-maintained. If you have a budget for it, consider giving your bathrooms a facelift with new tile or stalls. It’s a small space that will give your venue a more upscale and hygienic look. Also, consider making it part of your staff’s duties to check on the cleanliness of the bathrooms every half an hour to an hour. Many guests really do appreciate a little bit of extra maintenance.
Floor Layout
Is your venue’s layout set up in a way that encourages the type of experience that you would like to foster? If you have guests that would like to have an area that they can freely, does your layout support that? Does your layout make it easy for your guests to access the bar? Spend some time considering these questions and tweak according to your needs.
Music venues can be a fun place for music enthusiasts to have fun, and you can provide that will a bit of extra maintenance and planning.
