Concord Music has announced its latest acquisition: jazz and classical recorded music specialist Savoy Label Group.

SLG includes the Savoy Jazz catalogue and an extensive classical catalogue, in addition to adult rock/alternative specialists 429 Records.

In total, the transaction includes more than 3,000 master recordings.

Savoy Jazz features early landmark recordings from legends such as Charlie Parker (pictured), Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Erroll Garner, Cannonball Adderley, Dexter Gordon, Fats Navarro and many, many others.

The collection also includes more recent recordings by Pat Martino, Phil Woods, Etta Jones, Bill Frisell, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Larry Coryell, Andy Bey, Ravi Coltrane and Milton Nascimento.

The archives of 429 Records feature titles by Meat Loaf, Boz Scaggs, LL Cool J, Robbie Robertson, Joan Armatrading, Los Lobos, Macy Gray, Paul Rodgers, Little Feat, Cracker, Camper Van Beethoven, Dr. John, Mick Fleetwood, Bruce Hornsby, Roberta Flack and Joe Cocker, to name a few.

SLG’s classical offerings feature works by superstar Dutch violinist Andre Rieu and artists such as the London Symphony & Philharmonic Orchestras, Berlin Symphony, Dresden Staatskapelle, Concertgebouw, Moscow and Leningrad Philharmonic Orchestras and soloists like Sviatoslav Richter and Alicia De Larrocha, among others.

“Savoy is a great combination of both legendary masters and incredible recent recordings by a number of wonderful contemporary artists.”

Additionally, Concord Music has entered into a multi-year consulting and production agreement with Savoy’s former owner, Steve Vining, under which Vining may deliver new recording projects to Concord’s various labels.

Concord Music’s Chief Operating Officer, Glen Barros, said, “Savoy is a great combination of both legendary masters and incredible recent recordings by a number of wonderful contemporary artists.

“We are so very proud that it is now a part of Concord Music. And as Steve Vining has done a great job of building Savoy over the recent past, we very much look forward to all that he will bring to our company in the future.”

Concord Music’s Chief Business Development Officer, Steve Salm, added, “The addition of Savoy to Concord Music is consistent with our ongoing growth strategy, as it deepens our presence within a number of core genres.

“It also adds numerous classic recordings and another legendary brand to our great group of labels.”

Former owner and CEO of SLG, Steve Vining, said: “Concord’s enormous success in many of the same musical genres SLG has pursued convinces me they will be outstanding stewards of both the rich catalogue as well as the new recordings to come from our very talented artists.”Music Business Worldwide
