Polydor hires respected urban music tastemaker Manny Norté | Music Business Worldwide


Universal label Polydor in the UK has hired Capital XTRA DJ and respected urban music tastemaker Manny Norté.

In his new role, Norté will be working with Polydor’s urban department across A&R, marketing and promotions.

He will continue presenting his shows on Capital XTRA and DJing at urban club night ‘The Get Down’ at Tape London.

Polydor Co-President Tom March said: “Manny is one of the most respected figures in the UK music scene.

“Whether he is DJing at his hugely successful club nights or breaking records on his influential Capital radio show, there is no one more connected to urban music and the culture in the UK than Manny Norte.

Norté added: “Polydor has so many incredible records coming up. I’m looking forward to getting stuck in and signing some artists.”

Norté has worked as a DJ, producer and presenter over the last few decades.

His career in the music business started as part of a London event collective called Rotation.

He’s since been the tour DJ for Jay Z, Rihanna and Beyonce, and has played top nightclubs across the UK and Europe, being crowned Best UK Club DJ at the MOBO Awards in 2004/2005.

He previously had a weekend show on BBC Radio 1Xtra and can now be heard every weekday on Capital XTRA.
