Adam Granite exits Sony after 21 years | Music Business Worldwide

Long-serving Sony Music executive Adam Granite is leaving the label after 21 years having served as President, Northern & Eastern Europe and Africa since 2011.

Granite joined Sony in 1996 and spent time within the company’s Finance & Operations division before being named General Manager of Epic Records in 2007.

He was appointed to the international position as part of Sony’s efforts to expand overseas.

Based in London, Granite reported to Sony Music Entertainment International Chairman and CEO Edgar Berger, who exited after 12 years in January.

New Sony CEO Rob Stringer has recently confirmed that the Sony Music International HQ in London has officially been eliminated, with all ex-US regional heads now reporting directly into its global headquarters in New York.

“We want to thank Adam for his many contributions to Sony Music over the years and wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

Announcing Granite’s departure, an internal memo seen by MBW reads: We want to thank Adam for his many contributions to Sony Music over the years and wish him the best in his future endeavors.

Granite was instrumental in signing DJ Martin Garrix to a major agreement with Sony Music International in July last year.

He also helped negotiate a licensing deal with ‘Russia Facebook’ VK in 2015, bringing to close a copyright infringement lawsuit, and helmed expansion into Africa in 2016.
